Discover Halifax launches new look and features for leisure website

After more than a year of preparation, Discover Halifax launched our new leisure website on May 30.

The previous website had run its course, and upgrades were necessary based on user habits and best-in-class approaches. The key drivers for the new website development were primarily related to:

  • A mobile-first approach, as 70 per cent of traffic to the website originates from a mobile device;
  • Improved search and filtering capabilities, enabling users to find what they need, easily;
  • A more visual and interactive events calendar; and
  • Significantly improved SEO.

“Discover Halifax’s website has over 1.2 million visitors annually, and we need it to do a lot,” says Holly Chessman, Director, Marketing and Visitor Experience. “It’s an educational tool for people who are unfamiliar with Halifax and it’s a tour guide for those exploring a region they don’t know. We’re confident that the new website will help at all levels of a visitor journey.”

The website will continue to undergo changes and adaptations over the coming months as content is added and upgraded.
