Tracking tourism's collective impact

The tourism industry has a complex supply chain that involves multiple sectors and stakeholders. Halifax's Integrated Tourism Master Plan helps unify our efforts to ensure we're all working together towards common goals and objectives through the collective impact model.

While the ITMP Summary Report details our plans for manageable and sustainable tourism growth, the ITMP Dashboard documents the progress of all current initiatives listed in the ITMP Action Plan. These initiatives have multiple leads, partners, and potential partners and each project is at a different stage of development.

The ITMP Dashboard will help Halifax track projects and celebrates successes as the community continues to maximize the benefits of tourism.

Discovery & Scoping

To advance to the next stage, the project concept must be developed.

Initiation

To advance, the business case must be developed and approved. A sponsor should be identified, or a project manager assigned. Resources are approved and allocated.

Detailed Planning

The project plan must be developed to advance to the next stage.

Implementation

To reach the next stage, services should be delivered / the project reaches its completion.

Benefits Realized

At this stage, the project has been completed, either partially or fully, and the benefits are being captured.

Prioritization

Halifax's ITMP is a five-year plan to be updated in 2025. Not all of the 28 initiatives prioritized in the Action Plan may be completed within that timeframe and have been organized as first-term, mid-term and longer-term priorities. This will help the Halifax region, government, and partners prioritize the projects and investments that need to happen first to jump-start our economic recovery and maximize sustainable growth benefits for everyone.

First-term Priority
Mid-term Priority
Longer-term Priority

Last updated: Feb. 17, 2021

First-term Priority

Initiatives listed as first-term priorities should take precedence and be actioned as quickly as possible to realize the benefits.

Mid-term Priority

Initiatives in the category of mid-term priority will require additional time to action.

Longer-term Priority

Initiatives listed as longer-term are critical to the region but will take longer to address and may have to be carried over to the next ITMP.

The initiatives recommended within Halifax's Integrated Tourism Master Plan are all part of our vision to become globally recognized as the favourite city in Canada.
