Learn more about Halifax's first Regional Integrated Tourism Master Plan and the subsequent successes of the ITMP in the progress reports below.

The 2019, Halifax Regional Integrated Tourism Master Plan (ITMP) anchored a shared vision and strategy for the Halifax Regional Municipality, while supporting growth and prosperity in the region through the lens of the tourism opportunity. It was developed to drive and prioritize efforts and investments that will lead to tourism recovery post-COVID-19, and to future sustainable economic growth from the region’s tourism economy. And that serves to do one important thing: enrich the lives of our citizens.

Shareholders and stakeholders recognized that there was never a better time to have a plan built to provide direction and alignment of goals for the tourism industry. Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries globally, and it is bringing prosperity and opportunities to the communities that are prepared.

In total, 28 priority initiatives supporting six strategic themes make up the ITMP—all focusing on helping the city realize its vision of Halifax as a globally recognized visitor destination.

As an ITMP partner working with numerous stakeholders and organizations under a collective impact model, Discover Halifax will continue to collaborate with regional partners to achieve our shared goal of making decisions that will guide tourism recovery.

Thank you to our valued partners, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Halifax Regional Municipality, who are the founding members and principal investors, along with Discover Halifax, in the development of the Integrated Tourism Master Plan.
