April 26, 2021 - Halifax, Nova Scotia: Discover Halifax, the region’s non-profit sales and marketing organization, is pleased to welcome Clare Tidby as vice president of marketing. In her 20-year career, Tidby has divided her efforts between marketing consultancy and client-side leadership, including tourism marketing.
“We’re thrilled to have Clare lead the leisure marketing team and she brings a tremendous amount of experience and passion to the position” said Discover Halifax’s President & CEO, Ross Jefferson. “Discover Halifax’s primary focus is on attracting visitors from safe travel destinations, and Clare’s understanding of the tourism sector will be critical to help the destination build back better after an incredibly difficult year.”
Tidby graduated from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick with a Bachelor or Commerce in marketing and management, and has a Masters of Science from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. She has held several executive-level positions at local Halifax agencies, and provided strategic leadership at the provincial, regional, event and operator levels. This includes extensive work with Tourism Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Canada Agreement on Tourism, and marketing and sponsorship for the Halifax 2011 Canada Games.
“I feel an incredible sense of pride in showcasing the Halifax region to safe travel markets because this is the place both my husband and I chose as our home,” said Tidby. “Halifax is the perfect, mid-size city with so much to offer as a place to live, work and play. It is a great privilege to tell that story at a time when so many people are eager to get back to travelling.”
Tidby joins Discover Halifax as the organization as the tourism industry continues to recover from COVID-19. Discover Halifax’s upcoming summer campaign focuses on attracting family and friends from safe travel markets like the Atlantic provinces. Over the past year, Discover Halifax has adjusted its marketing efforts to be scalable and in-line with public health advisories while promoting a strong message to support local.
