It's time for the next phase of tourism planning in HRM
Leading destinations are grounded in a clear picture of where they are going and what needs to happen to achieve it, and in 2019, the first Halifax Regional Integrated Tourism Master Plan (ITMP) was launched.
The ITMP was presented to Regional Council where it was endorsed and adopted immediately, becoming the framework and vision that led the tourism industry during the years of the pandemic, providing guidance and a steady hand through uncertainty.
Discover Halifax is excited to share news that the next chapter of the ITMP is beginning, to map the next five years of tourism growth in Halifax. ITMP 2030 will build on the vision, goals, and strategic themes that have already been established and continue to be the foundation of the work.
Halifax covers a large geographical area, and each of the 210 communities are unique in characteristics. Working with our stakeholders and partners, we want to provide a clear picture of the strengths and opportunities in each region, and map potential growth for the future of tourism. We will help lead community collaboration so we can reach our shared potential to be globally recognized as Canada’s favourite city.
Halifax has tremendous potential for further growth through tourism, and the ITMP 2030 will continue to strengthen the economic and social benefits of the industry for people who live, visit, and invest in our region.
