Discover Halifax is thrilled to celebrate National Tourism Week, an annual occasion that highlights the importance of travel and tourism to our community and economy. We recognize the immense value that tourism brings to our region, from supporting local businesses to showcasing our unique offerings and attractions.
There are approximately 4,000 businesses involved in the destination economy in the Halifax Regional Municipality. From accommodations to food and beverage, from transportation to recreation and entertainment, these businesses are job creators and investors in all communities of HRM.
During this week-long celebration, we invite locals and visitors alike to explore all HRM has to offer. Whether it’s indulging in our renowned culinary scene, immersing yourself in our rich history and vibrant arts scene, or taking it into the wilderness to explore the natural beauty of our surroundings and coastlines, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
We continue to work to maximize the social and economic benefits of tourism to the region, and I think we are at our best when all industry partners and stakeholders work together to achieve success.
With a community-first focus, Discover Halifax will embark on an update to the Integrated Tourism Master Plan this summer. By leading with a local approach to destination management, we will work with communities as we plan for the future of tourism in our municipality.
