 Planning

A full plan is created and mapped, including timelines, tasks, and responsibilities. A lead is identified, and the other people and resources are lined up. A project moves to the next stage when the plan is clear, realistic, and ready to guide the work.

Overview

The Scotiabank Centre is a major venue and a contributor to Halifax’s visitor economy, hosting major concerts, sporting events, conventions, and community gatherings. Its scale and downtown location drive year-round tourism and urban vibrancy. Yet the facility is nearing the end of its design life, and growing expectations for accessible, sustainable, and flexible spaces are straining its ability to meet future demand. To remain competitive for high-profile events, Halifax must advance a capital investment strategy to secure multi-level government funding and engage key stakeholders in a long-term plan. Modernization should focus on enhancing the visitor experience while meeting today’s standards for accessibility, safety, and energy efficiency.
